Adult Written by Personpersondangan January 27, So parents should buy MK for kids who know the difference between fantasy and reality. Had useful details. Adult Written by Freyis May 26, A fun game The game overall is fun. Yes it is violent but if you've taught your kid the difference between fantasy and reality it shouldn't be a problem. Kids don't learn morals from video games they learn them from parents your kid isn't going to suddenly become overly violent from playing a video game.
That said the language in it isn't necessarily good for younger kids to hear as they tend to act like little parrots and repeat everything they hear. This title contains: Language. Had useful details 1. Adult Written by sonicd April 25, Blood is Natural Isnt it better for your children to play violent games instead of being a violent person? The message in this game is that fighting is dangerous.
The reason parents dont want thier kids playing these games isnt because the child will feel uncomfortable, but the parent will feel uncomfortable seeing thier children playing the game.
This title contains: Positive Messages. Even though theres lots of blood and bone snapping, theres still no drugs, drinking, smoking, or sex even though theres lots of blood and bone snapping and language, theres still no use of drugs or sexual content. I bought this game for my son a few years back, and he was absolutely loving it. I never really watched him play video games on his play-station, but one day I came down to see what was going on. The game was bloody and gory, although when I purchased it I had come to know that, but I had heard some talk about this game that wasn't even true on those eight minutes I watched him playing. There were some skimpy outfits that the women wore, but they never really did anything sexual with them, or really anything of the sort.
The multiplayer was perfectly safe, and I decided to let my 12 year-old son play it. So overall, I think this game is safe for kids of years and older. Adult Written by Kittycat June 27, Positive role models.
Parent of a 10, 12, and year-old Written by Gimmick April 23, Great game, a must for any 12 and up. This is an extremely violent game. There is some bad language in dialogue but its barely noticeable. Because the graphics are top-notch, the violent "x-ray" attacks and special moves seem so realistic. The "x-ray" attacks show what's happening inside the body of the victim while they're being injured and, although this is still very violent, they aren't as bad as the other attacks such as: dismemberment, decapitation and other VERY disgusting things.
Not for under 11's. Adult Written by Shaunak11 April 11, Read my mind. Parent of a year-old Written by joslin December 25, Loved mortal kombat as a kid, this one is gory Ok, so as a kid I loved playing mortal kombat so I was looking forward to playing this with my girls.
Yes, even ladies like fighting games. I expect some gore as it is a fighting game and it is mortal kombat. At first, was like ok there's some blood being slung so kind of expected. As I started hitting some of the special moves it would zoom in displaying the bones, guts, very dramatic and was a little much. To explain how gory it is, this is what I personally saw.
One of the moves, I shoved a pole through the stomach, displayed the intestines. Another one, upper cutter the pole into the jaw displaying the bones. I let them play a little longer while I looked up how to turn these settings off. Even my husband started saying in the short minutes I was looking up, this is a little much and he plays shooting, war games and also watches lots of history documentaries.
That being said, you can't turn off any of the gore settings. As a mom, I wouldn't recommend for kids mainly because you can't control any settings. If it wasn't for the dramatization of the fighting, it was fun to play and probably recommend.
The old ones were definitely not this dramatized and gory. Adult Written by Jaydenmathers November 25, Positive role models. Adult Written by m October 6, Adult Written by TeamMom June 15, When my son asked me again when he was 11, I said I would check the game out.
I was surprised how hard some of the fatalities are to do. This game is a very good game to let your kids play for a substitute for Gun games. If your kids do take this game to the next level, you can just take it away for as long as you would like.
The extreme gore mentioned in all reviews is only found in processes called Fatalities. These last steps are optional and extremely tough, with no points or benefits awarded for completing the complex series of movements required to view the sometimes gruesome and violent animation. Also to parents,!! It's okay It's very violent and all but violence doesn't come from video games,It does it some cases but if your child gets violent take it away for a month then give it back and it they get violent again just do the same thing.
Adult Written by David Johansen March 27, For Parents Overall its a great game, the different characters are awesome and I love the fact that it requires skill to play! I am seeing a lot of other parents on here saying it is overly violent but that's quiet inaccurate.
The game is perfect for teens and adults alike with so many characters, stages and missions play! Adult Written by someone else wiki January 2, Adult Written by J Jacobson December 16, My oldest child age 14 has been asking for Mortal Kombat. My natural answer was no because of the fact that the game is known for gore and that we try to stay away from overly violent video games but once I looked into it, yes it has violence but the graphic scenes are only in fatalities.
Fatalities are hard to do and your child will really have to try hard to accomplish it. So I told my son yes as long as he did not play it around his younger siblings. Once he got the game I sat down with him and watched him play.
After looking at gameplay I believe teens 14 and over should be able to play this. Yes it is violent but it requires skill unlike most shooter games. In theory, the rating system made it so retailers were encouraged not to sell certain games to people under 17 or Today, plenty of research suggests there is little evidence linking video game violence to violent behavior in children or adults.
Chris Ferguson, a psychologist who studies video games and violence, told Polygon that multiple studies in the decades since Mortal Kombat have found no connection to violent crime.
More recently, in February an Illinois legislator proposed amendments to a state law that would restrict retailers from selling violent games to minors. But a Supreme Court decision affirmed that video games are considered protected speech under the First Amendment. Future laws, whether state or federal, would have to clear the First Amendment bar that the Supreme Court set 10 years ago.
That said, any and further legislative efforts around video games now get my full attention. Vox Media has affiliate partnerships.
