With very cheap budget I have completed my tour. You have just about sold me on a visit to to Cancun. I am corresponding with a very beautiful Mexican woman and deciding whether to meet her or not. I appreciate the info. It looks like a great deal for a penny pincher like myself, LOL.

The Hotel zone, which is the tourist area is probably 20 minutes from Downtown Cancun. So not that far. We are always on the look out for cheap destinations which also offer up great experiences and culture.
Mexico has always been somewhere we have known little about in terms of affordability and always expected it to be maybe cheaper than the US but not as cheap. The food looks amazing too! If you go to Mexico you will be in for a hell of a treat Nic. You would love it!
Excellent post, I love it when people are honest and give the real prices etc. And I would much rather see a photo of more food than laundry any day!
Great stuff!! Cancun is less than cheap, actually. If you spend long enough there, and are lucky to know some locals who do not work in the tourism industry so, not just hostel owners , you can find cheap decent places to eat for — yes — 45 pesos like in Mexico City. Same for accommodation: in the longer term you can rent a flat and that ends up being cheaper than actually staying in a decent hostel which usually costs no less than 12 USD per night.
All in all, however, I would not spend more than a day in Cancun. Thanks for the extra advice Claudia. We would love to know your take on it as Cancun has grown on us and now we love it. Wow this looks very doable.
The street food sounds like such a great idea! It is definitely doable. We did everything we wanted to do in Cancun on that budget except stay longer The street food is almost always the best way to go. Eat like the locals! Great advice. I miss the tacos…. Hi Radhika, The Yucatan is beautiful, you have to visit at least one cenote while there. Cancun being a spring break location has given it a bad rep at least for the true travelers but it is nice if you stay away from the hotel zones and go there during the low season.

We had taken her to the DR the year previous and after turks to the DR again different properties. Yes she loved all of them, but honestly, the only one she spoke about, was beaches Turks. They know what they are doing when it comes to relaxation and fun for the whole family. We are going back again this January and everyday she asks when she is going to see Elmo. Thanks so much for sharing, Sonja — totally agree that Beaches knows what they are doing when it comes to looking after the whole family!
I am in Turks right now.. Difference hmm well 3 days I can say people in Cuba are more friendly vs TC but Jamaica wins hands down. Food is best in Jamaica. Turks nothing special. I live in Toronto and the food there is far better than Turks. Turks — very quiet nIght life.
Cuba is better vs Turks in this aspect but Jamaica is king.. Turks casino…pass. The resort is great, food wonderful,but many of the male staff would hit on women they suspect may fall for them. I did not go on vacation to be picked up.
I did not want to complain while I was on property. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, go to Beaches Negril Jamaica. My family and I have been there and everyone has enjoyed themselves. My kids are now 11 and 13 and have been to Beaches Negril four times! This year we are going to Beaches TC for the first time. We absolutely love it!
Just stay on the property while in Jamaica and only do excursions off the property through the resort, if you are concerned about safety. We have never had any bad experiences during our stay in Negril Beaches. It looks nice, but the prices are outrageous. Stopped reading after you compared to 3 star Cuban hotel. What do you expect going to a 3 star Cuban hotel?? Always 4. Some exceptional 4s are fine too. Hi, Can you recommend another carribian resort or island that would be a 2nd choice if beaches TC was not affordable?
Going to the beach is always one of the best family experiences. Well, it is amazing. In fact I wanted to bake cookies with Cookie Monster.
The grounds and gardens at Beaches are beautiful and lush, and the lovely beach was calm the entire time we were there. Accommodations and prices vary wildly at Beaches, but you can utilize all the amenities no matter which part of the resort you stay at.

Christine Roeske at. For our trip to Turks and Caicos, my husband and I stayed in a vacation rental on Salt Cay for 1 week, a hotel on Provo for 2 nights, and also 2 nights in a hotel on Grand Turk before ending the vacation with 4 nights at Beaches Resort.
The prices mentioned in this post will reflect this experience. Remember how in my Turks and Caicos packing list — I included food? This is why! Because of this, when I was researching prices for our trip to Turks and Caicos, the thing I was most concerned about was the food prices.
I was having a hard time finding anything that had recent grocery prices, specifically. So, when it came time for me to do my grocery shopping for the week at Graceway Supermarket on Grand Turk — I tried to make note of and photograph as many food and beverage prices as I could. So, I could provide you guys with a more up-to-date idea of what grocery prices are on Turks and Caicos. None of these were bulk sizes. Note: the meat quality at the grocery store was not the best.
You were paying rather high prices for meat that was pretty bad quality. I would avoid red meat, specifically, if you can, as this was the poorest quality.
Chicken, tofu and ground turkey were OK, though. Restaurant prices will obviously vary based on which island you dining on and what type of restaurant. The type of food that you will be eating at restaurants in Turks and Caicos is more or less the same as what you get at restaurants in the United States. Oceanaire Bistro is where we had dinner a few times be sure to call a day in advance to let them know what you would like to eat — as ingredients are limited on Salt Cay.
